Default '93-'94 Trans. Swap?

My '94 4wd Blazer's trans. is shot. I have and opportunity to purchase a '93 2wd for parts with a decent tranny. Apparently the 4L60-E is in both but have different part numbers. Can anybody confirm or point me where to see if these two transmissions are compatible? They visibly look the same but the crossbar and bolt(s) mounting that are different..'94 has 2 and '93 has 1. Thanks for anybody that can comment. --Bill

Sorry buddy you'll need a 4x4 tranny. The transfer case will not bolt up to the 2WD version .

You may be able to change the tailshafts on the transmisions... When we did my S10 years ago we had to change the tailshaft on my turbo350 trans so a shorter version so that the driveshaft would fit.

True, tailshaft may be a problem but does anyone know about the final drive ratios being different? That tailshaft, is it too hard to change?

You have to remove everything from the case to swap the tailshafts. If you were going to go to that trouble, I'd just rebuild your existing tranny.

changing the shaft is possible but not feasible.

Thanks all for your comments. Like Leeann_Bravada said, just getting it rebuilt may be the sensible thing to do. Oh well, long live GM!
