Hello everyone,
I have a 93 s10 blazer 4.3(w), and i think the 4x4 is engaging by itself. I have the electronic transfer case. The other day while driving, I was going up a hill, and I heard a clunking noise from the front, and after that the truck seemed a little sluggish, it ran fine. My question is, can the 4x4 engage and the lights on the switch not be on? And if so, does replacing the switch solve the problem? Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

 

Im sure there has been time where this may hapen. The clunckI would think come from the transfercase if it locked in to four wheels drive. it woundn't hurt to replace the switch. my 94 s10blazer right front brake caliper siezed up on my once it locked (clunck) then semed like the font brakes were on i let it cool down and changed the caliper maybe this is some thing you might want to look in to. just some sugestions.

 

It might not have anything to do with the transfer case, but rather, a sticking front axle actuator cable or a weak or missing return spring on the engagement mechanism in the front axle.
