That truck is in immaculate condition!!! But in no way is it worth 6k. Might I suggest the next time you spend that much money you do a little research. My '93 olds bravada lets out a huge plume of smoke on start up sometimes, can be very embarrassing.

i bought this blazer as an inexperienced buyer and a sleazy salesman took advantage of that fact, we haggled for 4 hrs because even though i was not experienced i knew not to buy from a dealer and that's why i put up a fight, he pulled every trick in the book to sell this blazer to me, after he had boasted to co-workers of how many cars he could sell in one day, he finally got me by telling me that 'cause i had no credit that making payments to them will give me some credit score and he was giving me a whopping deal of dropping interest rate from 21 %- 19%, so by the end of 10mths of paying off, i ended up paying over $5000, he also did not mention that taking and registering in my state i would have to pay well over $400 in taxes, and had to smog. Now new $500 tires...yeah, i have spent about $6000....now in selling i was definately not expecting to get anywhere near that, but just felt to get something in return versus keeping it as i have already purchased another vehicle to suit my needs.
it's been well over a year sinced i payed it off, so can't get money back.
i've been driving it around this week, it still drives really well, it starts right up i just put a new battery in, starter does make a slight crunch sound within 2 secs of start up so, probably needs new starter at some point.
there is however, still some white smoke coming out after about 5 mins idling.
at this point i'll take whatever best offer i can get or trade as i would like to be done.
thanx for all the questions, input and generously sharing useful info...this is how we learn..

Hey there, sorry about being taken on the blazer, there are some really sleazy people out there who take advantage of honest people.

First of all, there is no 'engine cure/head gasket repair' in a bottle. I'm not sure who your mechanic was who did that, but that certainly isn't something that should have been done.

As far as the smoke, it is very, very common for valve guide seals to fail on these trucks, causing oil to burn. The most common symptom is a puff of smoke on startup. The rate of oil consumption will be very slow however. I would recommend taking your blazer to a good mechanic who won't try to fix your truck with something in a bottle.

There are two ways to go about it, provided there is something serious wrong, such as a cracked block or head. Sell the truck as is, for cheap. Maybe $1000 since it is so clean, and take your losses. Or, get it repaired and end up with a truck worth probably $3000-$3500 that is in like new condition.
