Okay, old skool. I remember you telling me a little about your 3 standards, thought maybe you were a hot-rodder (i.e; beating the snot out of them!--LOL!). It's too bad they aren't very reliable, eh? I'll have to look around for an aftermarket one, or a shop who can beef up the one in there now, if that is possible? Dang! I'm getting in to far over my head, AND my wallet again, if I have to go switching to an auto. for a better/sturdier unit!

problem was, i would do 4 grand launches (or higher) in 4HI and get the jump on most people. don't know if it was the hi RPM's @ launch, or the 7 grand shifts that kept breaking them though.
too bad i couldn't use the A833 outta my Dart in it, or the Super T10 i have in the garage.

After you wrote about your Dart in the last post, I looked down at your list of vehicles and saw yu've got a '70 Dart Swinger! I did too! had a 727 in it though, but still, w./ the 3.91:1 rear pumpkin, and the 340 I had a mild build on, we were good for neck-snapping torque!
I always looked back at those years and was so GLAD I had those high back "banana bucket seats" we called them, like in Challengers and 'Cudas too! If I did NOT have them, my friends and me too probably,, would have snapped our necks w./ the 400 H.P.+ I ran in that 3,100 lb. car. YEEEE HAAAWWW!!! But like an idiot, (as most teenie-boppers are), I didn't realize I didn't have the head torqued down far enough, so sold the car, thinking the head, and rings were bad, as it looked and smelled like the old mosquito-spraying trucks going down the road. In the good ole' days when they sprayed clouds of DDT all over everywhere... (From all the oil smoke leaking thru the loose gasket I was too stupid to tighten properly--Wish I had it now, it'd be worth mucho dinero...-LMFAO!!!-

yeah, the only problem i have with my Dart is, i'm running a .030 over 383 with a 440 crank, and with the 3.91's and a little 245/60/R14 tire (only 25.57" in diameter), it screams a little on the highway. (whenever i get around to it) i plan on changing to a 3.23 ratio sometime.
i updated the info (in my sig) on my Dart for ya.

"Got wings" { on that Dart I mean---LOL}
I'll be doing good to have 468 HP from my 440 in my Charger... That's some seri-**** power there Bro.! I looked back on your "...4 grand launches, and 7 rpm shifts. Nice to know the 4.3 can even TAKE 7K rpm's. without blowing!
BUT, I think I can "nurse" my NV3500 along, or was it NV2500?-- too lazy to go back an look it up now---LOL!--- I will look into a rear swap. Maybe stuff an old Dana 44 'back err', as there are lots of those cheap around here and there if you look long enough...
Got my eye on a '68 Jeep3000 P/U w./ the old Buick 350 right now for only $600. And it has minimal rot, which on the coast here (salt air, and saltier roads---LOL), is VERY rare may just sell the Blazer, as it can't hold up to a full size old 'stump puller w./ its Dana 20 transfer case, and Dana 44/53 fore and aft--Jeep, (imo) Plus they look tooooo cool

that '68 Jeep p/u would be awsome. i used to walk by one everyday, on my way to school (many years ago). that thing seemed to go through everything during the Winter. would definately be selling something (of the wife's, of course) to aquire that for so cheap.

funny thing is, the engine never gave me a problem-other than the time my wife ran the engine dry & burned the mains out of it. but that was my fault (really it was).

Yeah that jeep would be nice. It has a sezed motor though, just the pistons. I'd have the machinist pop them out probably. The alternative is to find an older Buick 350 V-8. which is too much of a "PITA" for now. Unless a newer 350 Buick would do!?
Have to tack in some sheet metal along the edges of the Jeep's cab floor, and do new brakes and lines for them. Another "PITA" lying on the ground to do them all winter along w./ my other half a dozen projects... Although are winters aren't near as "chilly" as yoru are eh? A Not sure about getting rid of the S-10 Blazer right now. It'll be ALOT easier to get parts for than a "prehistoric Jeep" is...---LMAO!!--- 'Decisions, decisions'

as for the trans being done 3 times in my Jimmy, that's my own fault. i bought the truck with a broken bell housing (didn't know at the time). don't know how, but the original owner had "split" the bell housing from just above the driver's side dowel, around and over the top, and through the starter hump..
as for the "damage" to the original 5 spd in my Jimmy, i recently took some pic's of it. i thought i had tossd it in the scrap awhile ago, but one of my brothers was cleaning out his basement and found it.
problem is, now that i have the trans, my wishes for swapping in a stick to my '98 is soooooo tempting! here's a few pic's for ya to see;

cool pics!
Thanks for the pics! I wish I had the equipment to do some aluminum welding with. Could've saved alot of money and trannies too over the years! It looks like that tranny of yours took a severe beating eh? ouch! I still feel better w./ the standard tranny, assuming they're easier to rebuild than those 700-R's?!?
Most standards always were easier and cheaper to rebuild. If I get a plowing rig I'll probably go w./ the auto. tranny though, as a standard is a "royal PITA", and can even be dangerous on steep hills w./ sharp turns... Should just get an ATV and put a plow on it. They seem to be the way to go these days doing as much work as a small to medium sized tractor even. With a 3-point hitch you can do all sorts of things with them, and they're ALOT more fun to play with after the chores are done right? ---heeee, heeee, heeee!!!!!And again, a helluva lot SAFER than a firggin' tractor! Anybody who has ever "popped a wheelie" on a tractor and had it almost tip over on them knows exactly WTF I'm getting at, eh? That be some scary chit y'all!

but..........
in all the time he's owned his shop, he said he's only ever had 5 of these to rebuild, and it was too costly for the 4 or 5 special tools req'd for these trany's, so he couldn't do it for me.
almost makes you want to take a BW Super T10, and swap out the tailstock for a custom 4x4 piece.
