Just to clarify...by no means was I knocking Dexcool per se. I was just saying since it wasn't in there already, don't mix it with what's there. If you DO prefer Dexcool, just make sure you do a thorough flush of the system before putting it in. 
Regarding the clicking...my first guess would be that the fan is being prevented from turning, causing the fan clutch to make the clicking sound. It may or may not indicate a damaged fan, but since even a slight bend of the fan can be bad (according to my mechanic, who has 40+ years of experience), you may want to replace it anyway.
