Default A/C Compressor and wiring

I was doing a once over today on my 94 Jimmy and I noticed something peculiar under the hood. There is a wire loom that terminates at the a/c compressor and a couple of wires go to a connector that is plugged into my compressor.

The rest of the loom goes into a connector that plugs into a socket that is obviously broken off of something. What the hell did this go to? I wanted to take a picture but it has snowed a half a foot and is still going. Can anybody tell me what the this thing is? I assume it goes to something with the compressor because a) the wire stops at the compressor b)the compressor clutch does not engage and the a/c does not work.

Any help would be appreciated. It is a CPI not a TBI if that makes any difference.

It likely is the connector to the A/C compressor clutch on the front of the compressor. The other connector is likely the high pressure cutoff switch.

That would explain the fact that the clutch doesn't seem to engage. I will try and fix it somehow.

Ok, it is the connector to the a/c compressor clutch that is broken. It is sheared off so it is almost flush with the compressor itself. There isn't really any way to fix that is there? I am going to have to get a new compressor aren't I?

I have never changed one before, any tricks? I am pretty sure that the system is empty.

The clutch can be replaced separately. You may want to pull the clutch off and see if you may be able to connect to the wiring further inside. It may not be possible, but it's worth a try.
