Yea you can. I forgot which is positive. Just use a test light hooked up the positive side of the battery and find which one is the ground then run positive to the other side. I rigged up a air compressor with my ac compressor and its on a toggle. Could just be low on freon

Do you have freon? The low pressure switch would prevent the AC Clutch from kicking on. You can remove the plug from the low pressure switch and jumper it out. If the clutch kicks in you either have low freon or a bad switch. If nothing happens then you might have a faulty cluctch or a bad connection at the clutch. You can run a Pos/Neg wire directly to the clutch. It does not matter which is ground or not. The clutch is a coil that will energize either way.
