Lightbulb Can Anyone Answer This Bizarre Question?

Hi everyone and thanks for looking and hopefully helping! I bought a 94 S10 Blazer with the 4x4 push button activator. Well my 4wd was not working at all. So i looked and found the vacuum on the engine was disconnected. So i reconnected it, WALA and 4WD button turns on and feels like its kicked in, now the dissappointment is it will not turn off unless you unplug the vacuum and let the truck sit for a short time untill the vacuum is gone. The 4WD stays on if vac is plugged in and i didn't even touch the 4wd switch. I would like to use my cruise control, the vents on my ac and all. I know this all needs vac. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Conrad

Replace the vacuum switch on the transfer case.

Maybe I will have to try that. Although I did find something hanging underneath near the transmission that I need to figure out what it is, But today it doesn't want to start, so I must fix that. I will take a picture of this and hopefully someone can answer what it is and where it should be. Its got a wire connection and looks like its supposed to be plugged in, its way bigger than a normal plug though.

Well if i had a bad vac line though, I don't think it would kick on at all. When the vac is plugged in behind the motor, it turns on instantly without me even pushing the 4wd button and when i look in the truck, the 4wd is not lit up. It will not turn off until the vac line is unplugged and pressure is relieved in the system.

take a pair of needle nose pliers with a rubber band around the handle (makes a clamp) and find the 3 vac lines that run down the firewall. one of these will be caped off. one that goes to the actuator switch in passenger Fender (between the battery and the coolent overflow) and the one that goes to the manifold.

pinch the one that goes to the manifold when the engin is off. if it doesnt engage then you have a bad switch, and you can plug that line and drive in 2wd

Interesting to find that its probably that switch. You are talking about the switch that has a small plug on it and thats located on the front transfer case in between my front tires correct? If its that switch, Im definently going to replace it this weekend and hope for the best there. It does turn on with the vac on and when i unplug it from the motor, it shuts it down and lets me drive in 2wd after it sits for about 10-15min. So hopefully that switch works. I will let you guys know!
