Yes, you can use the paper clip method.
When I describe these older computer vehicles as "archaic", I am describing the vague and ambiguous conclusions of the codes.
For example... if you get an oxygen sensor code, don't go changing the oxygen sensor... figure out what's causing the code to be thrown in the first place... like a rich running engine or a vacuum leak.
