Couple of problems....
I just picked up a '94 Blazer 4X4 about a month ago, and just started driving it today (fuel leak problem...), and I noticed a couple more problems.
First, 4X4 doesn't engage. From what I've read here it sounds like a vacuum actuator thing. How do I check to make sure this is indeed the problem? Admitidly, I'm not a mechanic, so a highly detailed explination would be great. Is therea kit that replaces the vacuum actuator thing with a mechanical cable? I know they make something for the Jeeps with the vacuum disconnect axle, and I was wondering if there was something similar for us.
Second, I get a fairly loud clunk when I turn left and I'm going relatively fast (over 15 MPH). What could this be?My brothermentioned it could be the sway bar. Could that be the case?
Third, for my heat, only the defroster works. Everything else is dead, no vent, no vent/defroster (def only), etc. However, all fan speeds work just fine. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
LJ K

RE: Couple of problems....
for ur third problem i had this once where no matter what vent choice i chose it only came out defrost and floor. i checked it out and there was a disconnected vaccum hose to the HVAC module. heres a link to a thread that i found helpful. https://blazerforum.com/m_44783/tm.htm

RE: Couple of problems....
Thanks, I'll check that out Tuesday when I get the day off. From reading the article, that could also be the problem with the 4X4.
After reading my original post, I should clarify the 4WD problem, the T-case engages fine, but my front wheels aren't getting power.

RE: Couple of problems....
The 4x4 problem is most likely vacuum related. On the older blazers, the vacuum switch on the transfer case would sieze, and would stop working, however the switch was redesigned in 90, or 91, so, for you, the switch should be fine. If you can get to it, check and see if you have vacuum at the actuator for the front axle, should be under the battery...... If you do a search for Powr-Lok, you can find a mechanical dohicky (technical term) the manually engages the front axle. Runs about 130 bucks though. I think there are some articles on this site for making your own.
The clunk is more than likely a torsion bar mount isolator, if you here it from right under your seat... easy to check, crawl under you blazer, and push up on the crossmember that the torsion bars connect to, see if it will move (try both sides....) if it does, replace the isolator....
