Crazy tailgate squeak!
Just joined. 1993 s15 jimmy 4.3L. 132k miles. Just got a few things sorted out with water pump and coolant sensor (would start or run after it went bad).
The worst thing about this new is the sporadic / constant squeaking from the tire carrier / tailgate assembly. I think the bushing where the tire carrier Latches to the assembly on the tailgate is cracked and worn thin. That is the only place i can see where it would squeak. I did spray a little silicone on that location and it helped quiet it down for a day, so i think that is the problem.
Where in the heck do i get a new bushing to go in there or is there another solution. even LMC has nothing regarding the tire carrier that i can find. anyone have any suggestions? my search was not effective at all
Thanks in advance

update, after further review of tire carrier latch/striker assembly and seeing a picture on ebay of one for sale, the Striker that the tire carrier latches to, is split and worn thin. this looks to allow the carrier to droop a little and the upper bar sags a bit, causing the upper bar to rub on the metal. a local dealer, helped me find another dealer that has the whole assembly for 40 bucks plus ship. will update when received and installed
Yes sir. New latch assembly on, it squeezed for 3 min, then was silent. My guy at work, said the nylon striker was broke for a reason, and told me to change hinge bushings. Working on acquiring those,
thanks a lot.
