Distributor Question

Default Distributor Question

Waht might be some of the symptoms of a warn distributor?

jumpy timing in base timing mode, bushings in the distributor shaft are binding the shaft, pull cap off and check for how much play is in the rotor when you twist it.

Thanks, will do tonight. I notice when it is cold and warming up, it like squeaks from under cap, almost high pitched whistle coming from cap. After few minutes is goes away

You could have very irratic idle and miss also when running.

idle is good, but I do have a miss. New Plugs, cap, wires, rotor, coil all acdelco. New acdelco fuel pump, new filter. New spider, nut kit and fpr. New egr with screened gasket. Runs great, but after all that time and money, still misses at idle. 166,000 so maybe worn distributor. I have not checked the timing, but the squeak has me stumped.
