engine dies when hotabad doesn t start anymore
To the OP . you said in your first post the truck will not start after it has been running and is still hot. the engine must cool off then the truck will start right up?
assuming this is the only issue and the engine is not stalling or dying while the engine is running.
I would check your starter, have some one start your engine while you take a hammer and tap the outer case of the starter and the solenoid, in most cases the engine will start with this method, either way you will need a new starter.
I have had my share of trucks and cars with this same issue. gets hot wont star.

Sounds like its not the starter then.
After the truck shuts off try to restart the truck with the breather and filter removed, your looking for fuel going into your throttle body.
Maybe your fuel lines are to hot and causing the fuel to boil or it locked up.
also check your fuel pump relay, the relay could get hot and freeze up.
sounds like a fuel issue ..
just keep trouble shooting and posting.

Mine was doing the same thing not long ago and was told it was the ignition control module in the distributor. There's a few things you can test to be sure. When it is in this "no start" state, pop the lid off of it and have a friend look to see if it's pumping any gas while your trying to start it. If it is, then pull one of your spark plugs and stick a screwdriver into it so the screwdriver will touch the metal inside it. Hold the screwdriver close to a metal object and crank it over a few times. If you're not getting any spark then pop your distributor cap and check the rotor and the cap itself. If those are good then it is probably your ignition module. Check on these and get back to us.
Mine doing the same thing, would run for a while...no missing...then just die. Wait 15, 20 minutes and it started right up. Replaced fuel pump, map sensor, fuel pressure regulator, coil, spark plugs, distributor cap, and finally gave up and took it a mechanic. It was the electronic spark control module.
Hi,
Same exact problem. Car gets hot and chokes out. Won't start for 5-15min.
Has been in a shop for 3 weeks and they can't figure it out.
Initially when the car wouldn't start, it was the EGR valve.
I will have them check the Electronic Spark control module and get back to you all.
They have been swapping out the computer (3rd time now) because they aren't able to obtain valid codes to discribe problem.
