Default Engine Oil Overfill

'96 S-10

Have a low-mileage (93k) S-10 whose catalytic converter had to be replaced last year. Everybody was surprised it failed so soon.

Was reading today that too much engine oil can coat the cat converters with burned-off oil and cause them to fail prematurely.

So...I'm gonna be real careful from now on to dipstick the engine after EVERY oil change. Just dipsticked another older car of mine with a 2.2L engine a couple of days ago after an oil change last week (Brakes Plus). It was an inch over the Max mark; pulled out 1.5 quarts with a siphon pump. Called the manager today and he says he thinks it's my dipstick that's off. Huh?

Anybody ever heard of a Chevy factory dipstick that was defective??

also if your intake goes bad it can spew antifreeze and oil into the cylinders causing it to spit out the exhaust causing that too. see it a few times. never really heard of over filling causing problems but makes sense
