Found video on how to change trans filter
And believe it or not, its on a blazer...and i followed everything this dude did in the video...sure wish I had found this before I started...

just one thing. dont use any kind of gasket sealer on a transmission pan gasket. look in the video the pan has blue gasket sealer on it when he took it off. thats why it leaked. if it doesnt come with sealer then dont use any!!! if your having trouble with the gasket moving around then just put a bolt in each corner. the make the gasket holes smaller than the bolt. you can thread the bolt through the gasket and it will stay long enough to bolt up the pan.
When I did the tranny pan and filter on the 94, It was the first time doing it, So I unbolted the tranny from the cross member, Jacked up the tranny slightly to give me some room, and while my buddy removed the tranny pan. I grabbed onto the frame and pushed on the exhaust with my foot, just to flex it enough to get the pan out. It worked fairly well.. easier going in than it was taking out. got the job done.
well i was wrong. had to unbolt my exhaust but still cant get enough clearance to get pan back on...pissing me off to the point almost ready to call junk yard to come get it...

I always remove the trans crossmember, he did not show removing and installing the tube seal, I use a scribe to remove the seal if it does not come out with the filter. Like others said no sealent on the transpan ever. Never had one leak on any vehical. The big concern is not to overtighten the pan bolts. You do not want to strip out the threads or break off a bolt head. Even torque all the way around. For the crossmember I use a box wrench at the top of the frame and an Impact gun with a ext and socket to remove the 4 frame bolts. Then the transmount bolt. Support the trans with a floor jack at the tail housing to take the weight off of the crossmember. Rotate the crossmeber and it will drop out of the frame rails.
Well I did that. Removed the cross member, have a bottle jack supporting the transfer case....didnt mess with exhaust getting the pan off, but putting it back on, i find myself stuck with removing the Y pipe. Have no lights in garage, otherwise id still be out there working on it.
Not sure if Ill keep this blazer, becoming more and more of a money hog...I have yet to own a newer vehicle...(that doesnt require all this maintanance.)

I have an 89 2WD and have done the trans. fluid change at least a half a dozen times. I have not had to do anything with the Y-Pipe for removal or installation. It has been a little while since i have done the filter change. I know the exhaust is very close but I believe I was able to slip the front edge of the pan on first and angle the pan into position.
