Default Headllight Removal & Installation

Recently I removed both of my headlights and at the time I did not realize that I did not get them back in properly. The bottom tabs were not in the slots. Try as I might I could not get them in properly. This morning I removed the front brush guard, the grill and the bumper bolts and did not remove the bumper but just slid it back enough to give me some room to work. The headlights went on very easy. This is on a GMC Jimmy Diamond edition that has the envoy headlights. It is very easy to remove the headlights but very difficult to get them back in properly. It helped when I did a search on this same topic and saw that on the chevy trucks someone removed the grill shell to install the headlignts. At least it is not that difficult to remove the bumber. This is on a 2000 GMC Jimmy Diamond Edition. Which is a 2nd genertion.

not to sound cocky but ive had sonomas and blazers and never once had to go thru that r&i the headlight. just pulled the clips removed, replaced bulbs and was careful to line the slots up.

I have a GMC Jimmy Diamond edition and it has the envoy headlight and it fills up the whole space between the bumper and the top of the radiator support. There is very little room to manouver the headlight assy. to get the tabs in the slots. Someone else might have the magic touch but I could not get either side in correctly no matter how much I manipulated the headlight assy. I am not saying it can not be done but I gave up and resorted to sliding the bumper out of the way. Then it was a piece of cake. Next time I remove the headlight assy. I will try again! But if I can't I know how to do it the hard way.
