Heater box w/ac to non ac box?
#1
I had ac,but removed everything since it was leaking, and compressor bearings were bad. Heater core was leaking and i tore up the cover trying to get it out. What do i need to do to convert to a old pre 90's heater box? Im sure everything will bolt up etc,But what about the wiring that plugs into it? they are different.

I removed all my ac guts in the engine and in the box then just HVAC taped over it. I'm not sure about the wiring. I bet my hole wasnt as big as yours though. Why the problem with the heater core, with proper removal it comes right out. The bitch is getting it back in just right to clip everything.
Oh the air flow after removing that outside debris contaminated ac thingy majigger in the HVAC box.
(AC thingy majigger is street slang for a part you might mix the name up of, we will just call it the cold radiator)

I tore up the cover because i was just in a rush to get the darn thing off so i can see the core. I had a ****ty day and people yelling at me on the phone so i guess i pulled a little too hard lol.
To remove the ac thingy,i guess remove the billion bolts around the case and it'll snap open and pull it out? I guess i need to get rid of that too. Between the old brass core and that, and the ac condenser i need to pull. I should have enough scrap value for the case of beer i need to get me to do the heater core installation lol.

Yep - there's a few bolts around that thing (evaporator) .. and the ones on the bottom closest to the engine are a real bitch to get to. It it were me I'd just leave it because it's so much trouble. I deleted the compressor on my engine swap project, but it was easier to leave the evaporator and accumulator in place, without the hoses or condenser. They're just along for the ride now.

I opened mine in the middle and only removed the bolts around the thing that were easy to get to. I pulled it strait up after cutting the lines that go to it off so it would come out. At least quadrupled my air flow.
