Default Non functional 4X4 : (

So... I've got this problem with my 4x4. I can activate the transfer case and I can lock it into low 2X4 and it's actually in low but there is not 4X4 going on, just the rear wheels. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what might be going on? I thought it might be the splines on the front but then I thought about it and it was just one day offroading where they both wouldn't work and there was no hard use if it before. so basically I was hoping that there is possibly a sensor that has gone bad or something that is easier to replace and cheaper that the rods. Thanks. (1998 4X4 LT Blaze)

most likely its your vacum actuator i have a 02 zr2 that just had the same problem its right under the battery you can take out the battery and the tray and it should be sittin right there check the rubber all the way around make sure no holes or anything its pretty cheap to replace i think it was like 30 or somthing i dont know under 50

Yup, that was it. I can't tell you howmany mechanics I talked to about it and the best thing I got out of them was the splines being stripped. Thanks for the help. Cheap easy fix. Thanks
