3/4" is only 1/32" bigger than the recommended size for 1/2"NPT, so it should work fine, as long as you don't run the tap in too far. The threads might be slightly shallow, but it shouldn't make any difference at the pressures we're talking about here.

Also pipe threads are tapered

Were you able to fix the damaged threads in the intake manifold?
