When this problem started the first symptom was the horn began to sound with the low beams on. BTW, it was random. I was sitting at a stop light when it happened. When I switched to hi beams it stopped, but the horn still functioned in the proper manner. I replaced the headlight switch on the dash and all began to work fine... for a while. About 6 weeks later I had the original issue recurr.

I procrastinated for a few months before addressing it again. By the time I had the hi beams were no longer working either. All I had were parking lights in front.

I removed the air box and the oil filter to gain better access to the headlight wiring. I saw a very corroded ground on the core support and bare wires from the headlight socket leading to the harness. Seems all that driving with hi beams and a bad ground will melt your insulation right off the wires.

I had good power off the harness main so I ended up rewiring all 5 wires off the pigtail socket. Been working great ever since. My 4x4 switch on the dash even works right now. Turns out the turn signal switch was NOT the problem, but a simple bad ground, just as richphotos suggested. Thanks Rich

Glad you got it figured out, always start with the simple solution first. Can save time and money in the long run.
