Default How does the stock exhaust go onto the stock cat

How does the stock exhaust go onto the stock cat? I see how the cone thing cups it but is there a bracket or something? I went to do my exhaust got all the OEM Walker pipes and a cherry bomb turbo muffler. Some one all ready put on a hacked up ghetto exhaust that was welded onto so many times and was just held to the cat buy the hangers. So I'm missing something. Also saw that the cat was bad cause its just chunks of **** inside of it. So now Im driving around open headers with the cherry bomb clamped on where the cat should be FML. Sorry just had to rant alittle lol.

Pic looks like an '95 or so but a stock V6 will go into a Y pipe then off to the PS & into a pre cat then a cat (on a 2nd gen anyway) & into a muffler & then out the back.
What's the cone thing? A collector because you said headers or do you just mean stock exhaust manifolds at one of the ends of the Y pipe?

Sorry its a 89 v6 4.3 4x4. Yea the stock y pipe goes into the stock cat. Then how does the stock exhaust hook into the cat?

Link of the cone pipe I have that goes after the cat.

The factory connection should be a ball-socket type connection. The cat should have a welded bracket behind the 'ball' and then the extension pipe you linked to will have the socket and should come with a bracket and some bolts/nuts to bolt the connection together.

Attached is what the direct fit Walker 80147 catalytic converter looks like:

Which set of Walker pipes did you buy? Have a part number?

41457 is the one that goes after the cat. Cherry bomb muffler comes next. Then the tail pipe. Is this what holds it to the cat?
