Default How to shorten the hood release cable?

The hood release cable on my '94 S-10 Blazer is too long and doe snot pop the hood properly. How do I go about shortening this cable so that it is the proper length?

Can you get the hood open at all? If not a good way to get in there is to actually go under your car and take off the entire upper half of the latch system from your hood. There is a straight shot to the two bolts as long as you have socket extensions. From there you may just need to replace your cable with a new one. I picked one up from a junkyard for about 15 bucks.

if you can get the hood open.i put a split shot on my cable.you need 2 needle nose pliers, one to pull the cable tight and one to crimp the splitshot to the cableto take up the slack, also strech the hood spring a little.

the easiest fix is saw a slot in the side of a small nut, pull some slack in the cable and slip the nut over the cable and squeeze it shut, making the cable stroke shorter
