Default ?? How to siphon gas from 1992 S-10

Is there a way to siphon the gas out to empty the gas tank so the tank can be removed more easily?
The tank is about 1/4 full. I'm removing the tank so I can replace fuel pump.
It is a 1992 S-10 4.3L vortec.
I tried to get a siphon tube in the gas tank fill tube, but it wouldn't go. I pulled off the fuel filter and shoved the siphon tube up there and that wouldn't do anything either.

if its only a 1/4, i think you can muscle that. I havea FULL tank i have to drop in the next couple days. lol. I was planning on siphoning the gas, but it looks like your having trouble. Probably cuz it is so low, maybe youre just sucking air? idk. Did you check your relay to make sure that is not bad?

gas weighs roughly 8 pounds per gallon.
If you rtank is 18 gallons and 1/4 full (rounded to 5 gallons) is 40 pounds plus the weight of hte tank. If that too much for you, use a jack, board, and a friend.

You should be able to pull off the fill hose and siphon from there.

Or you could just remove the fuel filter and allow the pump to drain the tank. But then again, you are probably replacing the pump, but from your other thread, you haven't even tested the pump yet so I really fail to see why you are replacing it without first properly diagnosing it. Throwing parts at a vehicle is a sure fire way to waste money.

but sometimes throwing parts at a vehicle is a way to fix it.

you need a pretty long hose to get the gas out. I just did it the other night.
