Default 91 s10 blazer..no wipers! cold solder joints? could use some help!

I traded a bike for a '91 s10 blazer. I had to do a little brake work and other little things. When I first received the truck the wipers did not work at all. One day after a couple of weeks I turned the key and the wipers (which were stuck up, and I left the wipers on) went back down. So I drove it for maybe a month. All speeds worked fine and the wipers worked great. Until I was driving through heavy rain and they stopped working altogether. They have not worked since and when I flick the wipers on I hear some clicking and such. My guess is that the wiper motor is really fine and the problem is electrical, because the washer also does not work. I've read about cold solder joints and such, and the wiper control module is generally, from what I have read, a piece of ####. I rebuild/rewire my guitars as a hobby so I'm not afraid to touch up a couple of solder joints. Thank you guys very much.
