so I took it apart last night and cleaned the valve as suggested. put the new gasket in and there has been an improvement but the issue still has not gone away. still get the miss when trying to maintain at any speed now. maybe a bad EGR altogether?

You may want to check on all the vacuum hoses. One of these a very long one feeds the reservoir sphere which also is used for the EGR actuation.
My 1994 had all rotten connectors to the TBI. Various issues with hesitation and sluggish acceleration. Trying to change the TBI this week and replacing EGR and all sensors at the same time.

Its a 93 bravada, so you are correct.
