Default Need Help had Engine compartment fire

92 S-10 Blazer With Vortec engine.

Ok friends I need some help! I was working on my injection sytem and had Fuel pressure gauge hooked up to the Test port. appairently when I turned the pressure gauge around so I could see it from the Driver seat it lossen a little. I got the engine running and it was missing some I then looked up and I seen that I had a fire going. I was able to get it out but before I did it had burned into the wiring hasness on the fire wall and some of the vacume lines and know I have to figure out where they go. I will be taking some Pics on friday of the fire wall and the wires and vacume lines that I need to repair and replace if some of you would be able to help ID them it would be of big help. I would have sent it to the shop for repair but like alot of people out there I am unemployed and don't have alot of money. So please if you would be able to help figure out where they all go I would be very greatful Thank you

Dont cut anything or clean anything up yet!

During an engine comp fire all the plastic insulation burns. but not the copper.
I would go to the junk yard and find the same year blazer and pull the entire harness out of the engine comp.

You can trace the burnt wire back to an unburnt area to find out what color wire it is. You can splice parts of the junk yard harness into your truck. I reccommend soldering and shrink tube.

Work slow. take your time. Once the wiring is done, you can replace vacuum lines.

Good luck and send pics. Id like to see how extensive the damage is.

At the present time all I am going to do is cut the Vacume lines that have been burn in half to good area's so that when it is time I can trace them back. I do want to open up the wireing Harness to see how bad it burned but all I am going to do to do that is slit the wire harness cover I was looking today and seen that there maybe alot fewer burnt wires then I thought at first. at this time I will not be cutting any wires as there maybe just a few that need to be replaced but I won't know untill I open it up.
