no fire on 91 blazer
I cheaped out and got the junkyard distrbutor. Has less then 10k on it. I installed it but I am currently waiting for my battery to charge. Aske around about the shaft magnets cracking and was told that in cold climates is not to uncommin.
Dealer wanted 150 for the shaft and mags
Auto zone 99 after core for rebuilt
Local junk yard 50
Will update after reinstalling battery.

What the hell.
Still cranks without fireing up.
Wants to, I can hear it.
Now I know there is spark cuz timming light is blipping.
Still wondering.
Reinstalled dist. exactly where it was when removed. Fell right in and locked with oil pump.
Can bad timming cause no start? Always knew bad timming caused rough running.

I would remove the plugs so you can crank the engine by hand (No Compression). Bring the number 1 Piston to Top Dead Center. (Feel the compression in the No 1 Spark Plug Hole) Line up the timing mark for TDC. Ensure the rotor is pointing to the number one plug wire on the Cap or very close to it. If the rotor is not pointing to the number on plug you need to remove the distributer and reinstall, untill you have the rotor pointing towards the correct plug wire. Once started fine tune the timing. You can mark some where on the engine the location of the number 1 plug location on the cap so you know where the orientation is when you remove the cap to check the rotor position.
Ok I took the advice from both of you on your last post. Left distributor loose and also assured tdc. Things seemed like they were going to end up exactly like before. I had someone crank the engine while I rotated the distributor. A few cranks and There was life breathing through my 4.3 once again.
My distributor was right on it seems that my timming was the last stone to turn.
Thanks
