noisy altenator
1988 v6 4x4 blazer has a sound that comes from altenator like somethings loose .i think it's the altenator bearing. can it be rebuilt and if so where is the info i need to order a new bearing for whatever model it might be ?

But I dont recommend it. Because if the bearings are bad, no telling what shape the rest of it's in.
Go to salvage yard and get a used one - just like yours- over the counter. The better yards sell the better stock first. And get a brush set from NAPA.
Spin the alt while it's on the counter and make sure it's nice and quiet while turning free. Compare to the one on your truck. Bearings should not sing and the shaft should have no side and very little end play. Put the new brushes in the one you just bought.
look close at the rectifier assy and especially for burnt looking places. Between the two, use the parts that looks best . Dont worry about wear on the slip rings unless they've been grossly abused. Just a light sanding with fine paper will do
Put a little-fingernail size lump of lube in the back bearing. Keep alt dust out of it.
Now you will have a GEN-YU-Wine rebuilt alternator as good or better than the cheapies at AZ. Because it came off a running car, thus presumed good rather than a core turn-in. No telling how many times the AZ rebuilts have been through the cycle.
