Default Stuttering while driving, injector problem?

Hey,

While I'm driving i notice a stutter in the ride. Its like if you were walking at a constant speed and someone was giving you bumps foward from behind but you didnt walk any faster. I'm feeling that "jolt" while driving. My friend had the same problem with his Toyota Avalon and he said the problem was his fuel injectors.

My question is what can i do to fix this? Could i use a cleaner like seafoam? I've heard many good things about it BUT i dont wanna risk breaking any buildup thats holding my engine together. It has 170k miles on it. Do i just put it into the gas tank? I know i have to have about 10 gallons and use a third of the can, but if i just put it into the gas tank will i be ok? Will it put on the smoke show i see all the time on youtube?

What should i do because i really want my car to be ok and do not want to get taken to the cleaners if i went to a shop?

Any input is welcomed, thanks guys?

Default RE: Stuttering while driving, injector problem?

It is possibly caused by a fuel spray pattern problem. If you wanted to run an injector cleaner, I would run either GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS (don't forget the PLUS) or Chevron w/ Techron. The GM stuff has a special filmer agent in it that will clean and protect the fuel level sending unit from sulfur deposits found in most fuels (damn lazy oil companies).

I only use Seafoam down the intake to clean carbon from the intake and combustion chamber.

To recommend further, we need to know what it is you are driving, specifically year and motor (TBI or CPI cause I don't think you are carb'd).

One universal thing to check would be the spark plug wires. Go out at night with a spray bottle with some clean water in it. Pop the hood and mist over the wires with the engine running. If you see sparks, you have bad wires. At which time I would recommend plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
