Default Switching from TBI to Carb?

Is it possible to switch from the TBI setup over to a 2 bbl or 4 bbl carb?

I imagine it would require a different intake but I'm just curious.

yes. i did it with a 85 2.8.

i bought a 85 that had a engine backfire and burned up the top of the engine. had a donor 83 s10 with a 2.8 and carb on it. i just swapped over the intake carb and distributor. i dont really remember having any problems with it, though i did it back in 2001. also dont forget to change your fuel pump or get a pressure regulator. i turned the key and the carb just became a waterfall of gas

Awesome, atleast I know I have that option . I plan on rebuilding this motor come spring so I'm considering swapping it.

from what i remember too with these 2.8s you actually have to pull all the pushrods and lifters off the engine to do the intake. its a goofy set up like the intake kinda goes into the head and the valve cover comes down on both of them. that kinda sucked. but again i did this way back when i knew little about cars and had no problems,

I believe you are correct. The 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 are all 60° V6es. The intake gaskets go over and under the pushrods. A special tool is available to lift up the rocker arms to slip the gasket behind it. I've done intakes on 3.1s and 3.4s and love that tool. It saves a bunch of time.
