Default tailgate issue

Hey everybody. I'm pretty new to the forum so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area...1994 Blazer Z71 tailgate glass shuts very hard--but just slamming it won't necessarily close it. It is like the glass is not attached to the window frame at the bottom. When it does close, the glass can be lifted away/separated about 1/2 inch without unlatching the gate. So I'm looking to see if I need to adjust the closer portion that latches into the latch (mounted to bottom of tailgate glass) or if I need to try to reinforce the area at the bottom of the glass. Any experience or suggestions would be appreciated.

Adjust the latch in the lower gate.

yep, pull that off,and you'll see the flange, with 2 10mm bolts. loosen em and adjust as necessary. Best way to do it is get a friend to lock you in there, close the tailgate and adjust from inside. If you dont get it good and tight against the window it'll squeak and drive u nuts.

I would mark the latch before you readjust it, just in case that's not the problem. You can also loosen the posts on each side that the tailgate latches to. They take a large torque tip bit to loosen. It will give you about a 1/4" or more to adjust. I am sure they adjust forward or back. My Blazer does.
