Tailgates Universal?

Are all first generation tail gates universal? I need a new one from the Pick N Pull but am not sure what years I should be safe installing.

all the same except the ones(or not) with the outside swing-away spare provisions. jerry fyfi 1983-1994/2 door and four door-same.

Sweet good to know. I do have the spare tire deal on my truck, worst case scenario, I take it off. I do like the sporty look of it. Thanks.
