trany help needed

will an 86 5 speed 4x4 work in a 89 4x4v6 2.8?

not if the 86 had a 4.3 in it.

they didnt start the 4.3s in these till i believe 87. so unless he has the 4 banger in the 86,everything should work.

Actually, it's 88 they came out. I was just thinkin, ya never know if someone has transplanted something!
