Diablo, if the battery terminals have acid corrosion, use some soda or baking soda to clean it up. If you put a new battery in and don't clean the terminals, get ready to spend another $110. Check the ground connections for rust or acid corrosion.

Well i just replaced the hot battery cable end snipped off the old wire and restripped them and inserted them into the new end. I also got some better bolts for the ends as well. Definatley need to get longer cables. I did check the ground wire and it is not loose, the wire fron the alternator is secure and snug, but couldnt do much cuz i was starting to get cold. I am gonna charge that battery tomorrow and see what goes from there, I believe its the alternator thought because the bearing i think is startingto go out in it . Any other suggestions?

For the flatbed towing again. Diablo the cables are kind of short from factory. When you cut the wire, chances are it's not going to reach the battery. You mentioned that it's cold--that's when batteries tend to fail especially if they are old. Keep in mind that batteries are made with certain life expectancy. If the Sticker on the battery says 2 years, don't expect it to last 4 years. You think it's too cold to put a battery cable? Man i've been rebuilding a 4.3 engine in a tent.

Well luckly it isn't snowed here in Kansas yet, knock on wood, I took the old alternator out and to Advance Auto I went and had it tested and they showed me that the Diode was out of it and so i bought and replaced it today, took me 4 hours because I had to stop and do errands and such,,,,,, They battery i got in there now isnt a year old yet so i am gonna finish with it tomorrow. It isnt to cold out wouldnt be that bad to replace battery cables, 20 minutes the most. Hope this does the trick and reaplcing the spark plugs as well .

Well i found out that I had a few pin holes in the top radiator hose replaced that and BTW I hate the stock squeeze clamps from the factory, especially the lower one. I got it removed and replaced.
