Default what is this sensor?

91 s10 blazer 4.3 tbi


left side,between the header(facing front of motor),there is 1 sensor plugged into the side of the block.is this for the coolant temp? i know theirs one beside the thermostat too..What it is my objective is im trying to find a extra hole i can hook a mechanical temp gauge since the one i have right now doesnt want to move higher then 140 degree's.

Your truck will have the ECU temp sensor located near the thermostat housing and the gauge temperature sending unit located in the driver side cylinder head. Both heads should have the same hole in them, but on the passenger side, you may have a knock sensor in that location... I cannot remember exactly.

At least on the '93 CPI, it's the opposite. The gauge temp sending unit is in the passenger side and the knock sensor is in the driver's side....but I don't know about the TBI engine.

There should be a pipe plug on the opposite head. It is a 5/16 square drive and may be difficult to get out.
