Default 2001 Chevy Blazer battery/fuse issue

My husband has a 2001 Chevy Blazer that for the past couple of years has had issues with the battery being completely drained in less than 24 hours.

After many look overs and a few mechanics a friend recommended removing the radio/battery fuse to see if that worked and IT DID!!!!! The blazer holds a charge for days, weeks, etc...

Now the problem is that his instrument panel doesn't work. He can't tell how much gas he has, how fast he's going, etc.

Any idea of what to do next? We've tried cleaning the fuse, replacing it with a new one and we still get the same issue of the battery dying.

THANKS,
Laurie & David

Does the truck have the factory radio or an aftermarket radio? I'd try disconnecting the radio it's self and see if the battery drain continues.

Just another idea here: Do the interior lights go off when the door is closed? If the interior light bypass switch (on the dash) is engaged preventing the interior lights from coming on when the door is opened, it could mask a bad door-pin switch which would allow the Retained Accessory (RAP) to keep power to some vehicle accessories (like the radio) after the vehicle is turned off. The Blazers have 2 door pins for each front door. One on the side of the dash that contacts the door, and the other is part of the door handle inside the door.

k,so watch this mess to figure it out. if your arent mechanically inclined, take it to a shop.

eric is the bomb. Just you understand he shows u how to use a meter to determine if you have a huge drain. kill the radio, check it etc. find out where the drains from
