2001 Fuel Milage & Light
#11
2001 Blazer 4WD (S10 with 4.3 v6)
approx. 4500 lb
12-14 in town
17-18 on highway
Slightly less than my 2004 Avalanche 4WD (think 4WD Suburban with 5.3 V8)
6000+ lb
14-15 in town
18-19 on highway
The blazers really suck it down for what they are.
Fuel gauge goes down very quickly in the lower 1/2. Fuel gauge reads quite high when nose is parked upwards in my driveway. I've never run out but if light comes on you had better be looking for a gas station.

126 K miles. The pump was loud and I had long cranks on cold mornings. When I turned the key and didn't hear the pump, I knew it was dead. Last fall I had a 440 evap code due to a rotted fill neck and when I was installing the rubber piece from the new fill neck to the tank I pushed too hard and cracked the fill stem where it meets the tank. Result was same code but I moved the leak from the bottom of the fill tube to the top of the tank. My OCD kicked in (or as Captain Hook said, "CDO with the letters alphabetically as they should be") and I replaced all the fuel and evap lines as well. With the tank and lines out of the way I scrubbed and POR15'd all the rust spots, leaf springs, differential and frame and replaced the shackles, bushings and rear sway bar end links.
