99 fuel gauge with a little different spin to it.

here is what I had to do
- solution press brass pivot out of old sending unit and the new one and swapped the new parts over on old sending unit.
- next problem connectors didn't match up inside.
- un-soldered the wires off old unit and re-soldered to new unit.

3 years is a long time for an Airtex. Rare to get that much out of them unless you park it for a couple years When you get the module out, take a picture down inside the module toward the top of the pump. Post the picture, very easy to identify a knock off pump from an AC Delco.

changed out the fuel pump this weekend to a Delphi pump and new fuel filter. lots quieter now and better acceleration and started easier. learned my lesson there. only bad part is the old Airtex pump I just got the fuel gauge working on it.

And yet... Within one month, someone else will come on here and swear they dont have problems with THEIR Airtex, and then in a few more will have problems. There REALLY ought to be a 'Should'a Listened' thread.

I am learning.
If I can get AC parts, I buy AC parts (when ever possible).

Certain aftermarket parts are OK and perform just fine, sometimes better than OEM. Others are junk and you need to know which is which. That's where the "experience" part of it comes into play. We've been there and know what works and what doesn't. You get the benefit of us "old duffers" learning experiences, and end up saving the headaches, time, money and grief. I agree with pettyfog: Most threads on the forum are "listen" threads, but there needs to be a "Should have listened" thread. I guess the punishment for not listening is that it costs you money in the long run
