Due to running over a deer never messed with front differentials before I am going to try to upload a pic but I need to know what to do or replace the whole differential from a 2000 so it would be a upgrade my blazer is a 96.I live in the mountains and this is my only truck so any help would be great thank you..

Couldn't tell you on swap but gear ratio would have to be the same from one to the other. Only one I have done the engine was removed and that was a pia in it's own. I read just how much of a hassle it is removing the front diff with engine in place so I'd fix the one in it as it's less work.
The axle is held in place with a simple wire snap ring. I'd remove the half shaft, pull the axle and check the snap ring, replace the shaft seal while it's out, snap axle back in place, reinstall half shaft and fill with lube.

The axle doesn't just slip in - as I stated above it should be held in place with a simple wire clip at the end of the axle.
Remove the half shaft,
I would pull the axle and check the clip replace the outer housing seal, then it will take a little effort to reinstall the axle.
Turn the axle slowly and you you will feel when the splines inside and on the end of axle line up. The small wire clip will have to compress into the grove at the end of the axle as it slides into the gear, so it will prob take a little tapping on the end of the axle with a small hammer or rubber mallet to set the axle into the inner gear.
