new from pa, 1997 blazer won't turn over, just clicks
New to this forum, and totally at a loss. Intake Manifold gasket was leaking, replaced it. While putting everything back together, noticed a crack in the distributor cap, replaced that too. Everything is back together, when I turn the key, there's just a fast clicking sound. Plugs are on in the correct order, cap is on properly, battery fully charged, any ideas on what it can be? Sounds like it's coming from the area of the distributor cap.

I am having the same problem with my '96 blazer. The weird thing is it will run great for a week and then I'll turn it off for a couple hours then it won't start, just a click. Then i let it sit for a couple days and it will start and run for a week. The problem is making me crazy.

If the battery is in the range of 12.6 volts, then check your battery connections and your connection to the starter.
If that's all good then I would pull the starter and bench test it. The solenoid may be FUBAR

Remove driver's side wheel to access starter terminals through rubber flap on inside fender well. Using test light, check for power sitting at the large terminal. Then hold test light on small terminal (from ignition switch) and have helper turn key to start position. If there is power and either a click or no click, the starter solenoid is bad. Note that in rare cases, the solenoid gear could be jamming into the flex plate (flywheel) on the engine. The solenoid must fully engage before power is transferred to the armature to get the starter to spin.
