Default Odd problem with 2001 Blazer LT

Well here goes. We went on vacation to the Cedar Point's Splash village a week back and the blazer ran perfect on the way there. On the way home to Windsor I noticed (rather hard not to) the motor was hesitating badly at highway speeds. At approx 2000 rpm in OD on cruse (120kph) the temp. gauge was irratic, and when it would drop to 0 the motor would almost shut down or stumble real bad. It always recovered and did get us home. This would happen say every 4-5 min or so but not consistant. I filled up the tank in Sandusky at a Shell just before we left. I use the truck every day and it has not done that since. Could it have been bad gas? I don't have a code reader and the engine light is on. It has been on for a while, I think its just a bad gas cap. Please help that Blazer is a great family truck.

Thanks

Kevin
