Default 02 Blazer headlight issues

Howdy!

I have had my 02 for years and all of a sudden when the light goes dark so do my headlights...

Has anyone else had issues with the light sensor?

Is there a way to either disconnect and manually turn lights on until I can get it fixed?

Service in my town is a massive issue so if there is a way to fix this myself, that would be sweet!!!

Do you have the owners manual for the blazer???? If so the instructions are in there for that exact problem.. I kinda had that problem with my blazer it turned out someone who tried to use my truck at night hit the switches too many times and screwed up the whole deal with the day runner lights to headlight usage..also where do you live anywhere near NY??

No, I live in northern Canada which is why service is an issue.

I have the manual and am going to to check it right now.

Thanks!

Please have some patience. No need to post "Anyone?" twice within minutes of each other.

By pressing the dome override button quickly three times, you can disable the daytime running lights and the automatic headlights. However, this will only last during that key cycle. So if you turn the truck off, and back on again, it should be set back to regular operation. With that said, if your truck was made for Canada, this feature would be non-existent. At the time, it was not mandatory for US vehicles to have DRLs, but it was mandatory for Canadian vehicles to have it. Those vehicles which were produced specifically to be sent to Canada did not have the ability to disable the DRL and subsequently the automatic headlights.

If you are having a problem with the automatic headlights not coming on at night, then you can simply move the headlight control to turn on the headlights manually. If this does not work, then you either have a fuse or relay problem. The DRLs work off of separate fuses than the standard headlights.

That was a double post up top...

Either way, the canadian models do not operate the same as the US so the attempt to over ride the DRL's did not work anyway.

For the record, yes, I tried to manually engage the headlights. All the fuses were pulled, bulbs were changed, etc...

Apparently, there is a problem with the switch in these models... Spoke to two dealerships. This sucks...
