Default '02 Blazer , mystery broken black wire near battery

'02 Blazer , mystery broken black wire near battery...Is it safe to assume any 14,16, or 18ga black wire near the battery should be a ground wire? Just got this blazer , while going over it found a broken off black wire near the battery? Any ideas?

This wire looks way too short to go directly into a battery clamp. I'd suggest You to look for the place it could be going to (another part of a wire?). Mines Blazer battery wiring has been reworked before I bought it, so I cannot say.
If You decide not to wait for other replies and give it a try - be sure to use a fuse with the line. Just in case.

There are three black wires connected to the battery:

G106: Right side frame rail in front of right front wheel

G107: Right front of engine block

G108: Right of radiator support

Find the other end so that we can find where the broken end belongs

There is something that disturbs me. The stripped end. Too regular to be stripped off accidentally. I'd check with a continuity meter if the wire isn't already connected with a ground signal. Maybe the wire was soldered or connected to some plug or harness? A light maybe? I would check the nearby connectors too.

Thanks for the replies all. I checked continuity to ground and there is none. I am going to probe the wire with KOEO to see if there's any voltage. I also really need to get up under this thing to see if I can track down the source of this wire.

Thanks for the input..
