Default 02 S-10 Blazer stuck E brake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqdC...ature=youtu.be

Hi I have a 2002 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4dr with 4x4, I took it to a body shop recently to have the driver side door replaced and painted and a minor dent on the rear door fixed on the same side. While it was in the shop the adjuster called me and told me that they couldn't move the vehicle after they started working on it. He said they put it in their service department and that they said it was stuck in 4x4 and got it to move. When they told me it was finished and I went to pick up the vehicle the car would go into gear but would not move. The battery was also dead and there was a noise coming from the direction of the Transfer case control module. When the car was put into gear and back to Park it would make a seperate noise like in the video, it is coming from the emergency parking brake cable. They told me it was because of the TCCM that the car would not move.

I have already replaced the TCCM and put a new battery in, the clicking noise from the direction of the TCCM is gone. The car still will not move when put into gear, it looks like something might be draining the battery still.

I think the E brake is stuck or messed up is the reason it won't move, I had a problem before where I took my car into a shop and I didn't tell them about my broken parking brake, when i would use the parking brake it the car would move very slowly. Then it quit working, the shop was able use the emergency parking brake and when I got in the vehicle the parking brake was on and I couldn't release it. So the tech at the front desk went out to my car and I think he cut the cable for the Emergency parking brake or something and then the car moved fine. The release lever for the brake stuck out and the parking brake could not be engaged again afterwards also, I figured I would leave it this way until I could get it fixed.

I think the body shop might have figured out a way to engage the parking brake. Even though the light does not come on until the parking brake is engaged I would know if anyone could guide me on how to cut the parking brake cable.

I would advise not - but if you are determined its the cable in this photo. If cable is not stretched tight, then cutting it will not do any good.

Geez! According to the photo it's on the inside of the left frame rail behind the transfer case and next to the fuel filter. Photo is from AutoZone so I can't vouch for it's precise applicability to a 2002 Chevy Blazer, but it may be accurate. In any case it will be at least close to that location and look something like that.

That said, I think a little tough love is in order. It really sounds like you need to pay someone to diagnose and repair your vehicle problem firsthand. Sorry, but if you can't even find the part how can you diagnose this is the problem? Hate to see you screw up your vehicle needlessly. Sometimes you just gotta pay!

If you do decide to cut the cable, cut the cables going back instead of the rod with the nut (or the cable to the front). The cable going back is much easier to replace.

Best regards,

Les
