Hey guys needing a little help with the spare tire carrier on my 02 zr2 blazer. I mounted a hi-lift Jack on it and with that and the spare tire, the gate sags to the point that it won't shut without me lifting it when I close it. Has anyone had any luck taking the sag out of their carrier? I already adjusted the latch as high as it would go.

Sounds like the plastic bushings in the swing arm are shot. Not only causes terrible rattling when hitting bumps when driving, but can cause the swing arm to sag too.

Mine are split and on the way out, only rattling right now, but it's getting more and more difficult to close as time goes...

I've only been able to find them online for like $10 each, and there's 4 of them... GM part number 12546658

 

I'll be interested to know if it is the bushings or not.
