Default 03 4 wheel drive blazer. brake ?

Hi new to community from Cleveland, OH. I have an 03 Blazer 4 wheel drive with a 4.3 liter Vortec. My ? Is last time we changed front brake pads after we bled system pedal wouldnt come bask up. A friend informed us we had to let trk sit 12hrs for it to reset. So we let it sit over nite and brake pedal and brakes were good. Has anyone heard of or had this problem ?? If so what or why does this happen. My hubby us about to chang back caliper and pads And being down 12hrs is going to suck. Any advice would be appreciated. This site is awesome I have found so much helpful information thank you all in advance

12 hours??? There's a new one, 40+ years & never heard that one before When he replaces the rear calipers, it needs to be done a certain way to avoid issues with no pedal. Do one side at a time. Completely assemble one side, (caliper, caliper bracket, rotor, pads). Then remove the brake line from the original caliper, and immediately transfer it to the new caliper. Remove the master cylinder cover, top off the fluid level, leave the cover off. Open the bleeder on the new caliper and let it gravity bleed, DO NOT pump the pedal. Probably take 5 minutes or so. When the fluid runs clear, no bubbles, close the bleeder. Slowly press and release the brake pedal until it's firm. Should take 4 or 5 times, slowly. Hold firm pressure on the pedal, then quickly open and close the bleeder. It should only be open momentarily so the pedal does not go to the floor. One time, maybe two, is all it takes to bleed it. Don't let the master cylinder run dry during this entire procedure. Repeat on the other side.
