Default '03 gas mileage

This has been bugging me ever since I bought this truck in December. How many miles do you guys average on a tank? I can't seem to get more than 300 out of my 19 gallon tank (2-door model). I keep a running log and I'm averaging close to 17, which is pretty good for the driving I do (mostly around town), but it still seems like I should be getting more with that big of a tank. Comparatively, my buddy has a '95 Cherokee (with a smaller tank) and he gets close to 350, which seems more like what I should get with such a large tank.

Well, considering that the fuel gauges aren't all that accurate, you're probably leaving some fuel in the tank. Do you ever fill up the entire 19gallons? My Bravada has an 18gallon tank and I think the most I have ever put in was 15 gallons and it was almost on 'E'. That got me ~280miles (IIRC) at close to 19mpg. Going 300 miles at 17mpg, you're only using 17.7gallons, not the full 19 gallons. Using the full 19 gallons, you should go atleast 320 miles.

A Cherokee is lighter and has a bit more torque (with the 4.0L I6). If driven like a granny, you can easily get 19-20mpg. So at 20mpg and 350 miles, he's only using 15 gallons of gas.

Blazers are gas hogs...it just their nature...if you're getting 17mpg your truck is in good shape...

Makes sense. I usually average 16 gallons on a fillup. Here's my log:

Yup, looks above average to me. You're running right where I am.

I've got a two door also, and i get about 16.5 in the city, and in the winter, so you're not doing too bad.
