Default 05 cat o2 sensors? and stuff..

hey yall, i bought an 05 2door standard transmission a few months back and dont know a whole helluva lot about what happens in the engine compartment. anyways my question is, and my apologies if the answer is already posted, what is the most efficient way to drop a catalytic converter and trick or bypass the o2 sensors? theres one before and after the converter. my reasoning, and may be silly, is to put flow masters on, but sc is no emission checks so oh well. also i bought a $20 cold air filter and took of the stock filter, trying to make it sound as bad *** as i can. if you have recommendations or anything itd be appreciated.

one last thing my heat sucks, doesnt get very hot at all.. i took it to midas, which i learned is muffler shop.. dumb... but they say thermostat is stuck open. whats that mean?

im sorry i have soo many questions, i'm moving to ny and am curious what should i do before a road trip? i have 67k miles on it and dont know the last time anything has been done to it, except for oil.

thanks for any and all help i appreciate it

Not going to touch the cat question... Tampering with emissions equipment is a federal offense. Besides, the risk vs reward just isn't there. Also, if you are moving to NY, you won't pass an inspection without a catalytic converter, period.

If the thermostat is stuck open, it is allowing coolant to flow freely from the engine to the radiator and is not properly regulating the temperature of the coolant in the block as it is designed to do. Replacement is very cheap and relatively easy to accomplish.

Weatherstripping... You might find that a dealer isn't all that expensive for an item like this. RockAuto.com might have it. LMCTruck.com is another possibility.

as for the cat you need to find whats called an "o2 simulator" which tricks the computer into thinking its still there. got one put on mine and no problems or check engine lights. I also passed a safety inspection this way no questions asked, if its not illegal where you live, or plan on living, who cares. gives the exhaust way more sound, and it will never clog up.

Who cares? That's an awful irresponsible attitude to have. Such a waste for something so trivial really. Shesh. BTW, cops in NY are starting to look for things like this and the fines are several thousand dollars if you are found in violation. Again, risk vs reward. Cutting off a properly functioning catalytic converter for the sound is just stupid, IMHO.

Besides, since tampering with emissions equipment is prohibited by federal law, discussing such topics is prohibited by the rules of the forum. Suffice to say that you should just drop it.

In most Eastern states the DOT officers(who inspect the class 6-8 trucks) are also fully qualified mechanics AND drive usual looking Crown Vics, but if you get pulled over, these same officers will also do a cursory inspection of the vehicle! If they sense anything amiss:instant tow & impound for a full inspection (at YOUR cost plus fines!) is immediate.
This happened to a Mexican national I worked with who brought an F-150 up from TX,it was a 95 and he ended up not only losing the truck, but had to run back to Mexico to avoid paying the almost $5000 in fines and fees! Is it worth it? I think not...
