When you google rag joint on GM vehicles, it apparently is a problem for everything GM from trucks, to cars such as the Camaro, Chevelle, Corvette, Nova and the RWD Impala SS. The solutions run from replacing the Rag joint to the expensive --$275-- Borgesen shaft with U joints. A salvage yard solution is to put a 1993 Jeep Cherokee lower steering shaft in it. That is a low dollar approach to the Borgesen unit. I haven't priced the Flaming River solution.

The jeep lower has a U joint made of aluminium. Not my cup of tea, and the upper dosnt fit. Astro Vans have steel upper and lower U jounts that fit both ends but you have to file a notch in the column ehd for the offset bolt. The Astro is 6 1/2 in too short so I got two. It doesnt rattle now but Im thinking of hot glue instead of grease.
