10W30 or 10W40?

The Captain is not infallable, but he is the closest thing we have to a Blazer god on this Forum. I have noticed that he spends a lot of time and effort trying to help people here for no apparent personal gain and he certainly has a lot of patience with others! He is a benevolent Blazer demi god - and although slightly opinionated on certain things he definitely has virtually everyone's respect (including mine and apparently excluding yours).
You Sir, have not earned anyones respect here - even though you attempt to demand it. I doubt if you realize the difference. Please tell us why anyone should care about your opinion? What are your qualifications, and who have you helped. What are your chops? What have you done for anyone else here in your 17 posts (or elsewhere)? This forum is a lot more than just a place to show off your ride. It's a place to learn and exchange/discuss ideas if you allow yourself to.

From Factory Manual
Fluid Type Specifications
Engine Oil
Above 0°F = 10W30, 5W-30 (preferred)
0°F to -20°F = 5W-30
Below -20°C = 0W30, 5W-30 synthetic (preferred)
So per GM, 10W-30 would be OK in Florida but not necessary.
10W40 is not recommended.
15W-40 is not recommended
Easiest to just use 5W-30. If you need more viscosity, your engine has a problem.

5W-30 synthetic All the time, 230,000 on the clock. Thank you Captain for all your help. Worx, in that Fla. heat, you should just pour in gear lube, it will keep your oil pressure nice and high.
